On Christmas Eve, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall of 248,000 pounds of blade-tenderized steaks produced by National Steak and Poultry in Owasso, Oklahoma due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7.

Oklahoma-based National Steak and Poultry recalled 248,000 pounds of ground beef after government agencies linked NSP’s mechanically tenderized steaks to several cases of E. coli O157:H7 in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, South Dakota and Washington. The company has said the beef was sold primarily to Moe’s Southwest Grill, Carino’s Italian Grill and KRM Restaurants (which operates 54th Street Bar and Grill).
